Don't Let the Bastards Get You Down
We can't control the weather, the economy, or the attitudes and actions of
others. But we can take care of ourselves, believe in ourselves, choose to hold
our heads up even in the most difficult of times (even when those same heads
feel as if they weigh 100#). John Wayne once sent a telegram to Barbara Walters
that said simply, "Don't let the bastards get you down." Whether the problem is
illness, finances, bigotry, bullies, or betrayal, you can't always change the
facts, but you can decide how to respond to them, and the first response can be
to not let the circumstances get you down...or at least, don't let them keep you
down.
